We meet at the trailhead as the sun crests the Hottentots Holland mountains. A quiet introduction to the day's safety and path over local coffee.
10:30
Fynbos Immersion
Moving slowly through the slopes. Identifying seasonal blooms, understanding the fire-driven ecology of the biome, and stopping for photography.
13:00
Coastal PicnicÂ
A curated lunch at a sheltered lookout. Watching the horizon for whale blows while enjoying locally sourced Overberg produce.
15:30
Return to Base
Descent back to the start point. A final reflection on the day's sightings and delivery back to your coastal accommodation.

Essential Logistics
What to Bring
- Sturdy walking shoes or trail runners
- Lightweight, windproof jacket
- Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, reef-safe sunscreen)
- Reusable water bottle (1.5L minimum)
- Camera or binoculars for whale watching
Logistics & Meeting Point
We typically meet at the New Harbour in Hermanus or at the base of the Fernkloof Fynbos slopes. Transportation can be arranged from your accommodation upon request. Full address and pinpoint to follow via WhatsApp.
Weather & Safety
The Overberg coast is unpredictable. We monitor swells and wind daily; routes may change for safety. Always layers up; the mountain air is salt-cool even in peak summer.
