About the Guide

Hi, I'm Nicol, founder of The Guiding Tide

Nature has always been more than a place to visit. It's where I feel most at home.

My passion for South Africa's incredible landscapes, wildlife, and marine life inspired me to create experiences that help others slow down, explore, and reconnect with the natural world.

As a qualified NQF Level 2 Field Guide, Marine Guide, and Fynbos Guide, I have spent more than four years guiding guests through some of the Cape's most remarkable environments.

My background in education has shaped the way I guide, allowing me to turn every walk, coastal adventure, and wildlife encounter into an engaging experience filled with stories, knowledge, and meaningful discoveries.

The idea behind Guiding Tide is simple: to bring people and nature together again.

Amidst the rush of daily life, it is easy to lose touch with the natural world.
Whether you are marveling at the majestic Southern Right whales in Hermanus, navigating the Cape’s diverse floral kingdoms, or feeling the energy of the Atlantic tide,

my mission is to nurture a lasting connection to the wild.

I provide personalized, bespoke excursions tailored to your specific interests.

I believe true guiding transcends memorized facts;

It is about creating genuine moments, sharing local knowledge, and helping you develop an enduring attachment to these lands that continues well after your journey ends.

I look forward to leading you across South Africa’s stunning shores and revealing the secret treasures that inspire me each day.
